New Hire Is on Drugs

QUESTION:

November 18, 2009 by sparktalk

Dear Experts,

I just got a new co-worker. He was hired by my boss while I was on vacation. I know for a fact he is on drugs, but my boss is pretty clueless to this stuff. Should I say something?

ANSWER:

I would lay the groundwork gently to allow your boss to come to the realization him or herself.  If this is not possible, you might try to soften your approach to say something more along the lines of, “I don’t know how much stock you want to put in this, but…”
